A Blanket From July..by Michael

We bundle up in winter and then shed our outer clothes during the summer. Who would of thought that Cynthia would need a blanket in July? Maybe there is more to this story than clothes and seasons as we shall take a look into something deeper. She grew up as a shy but intelligent young girl with not so much as good looks, but with a good heart. Yes, she had friends but no more than that as the yearning for something more would surface in her nightly dreams. Who is mister right and where is he? she often wondered. At thirty two years old she made reservations one summer at a singles resort for a July fourth weekend. She made friends with some people at the breakfast, lunch, and dinner table, but no special connection was made. Carl sat next to her on bingo night, a young man who grew up shy but intelligent with not much good looks but with a good heart. He won $100 at the end of the game and before everybody left he caught up with the girl sitting next to him. "I don't know you but my name is Carl and I would like share half of my winnings with you". "Let's go out then celebrate together", she replied. They left the resort and went a bar-restaurant as the two became acquainted. Shy smiles turned into a very romantic kiss for the first time ever. She invited him back to her room as it was their last night there. The temperature outside was 95 degrees as he pushed the button on her air conditioner. It became warm again as they made love for the first time. She fell asleep soon afterwards and as he came out of the bathroom Carl made sure and tucked her back in with a blanket from July...

Nice story, well written, praise-worthy. If, as Patricia J. says, your characters always find love, then this is a work of fiction. I have 25 years poisonous proof that life is NOT how we writers envision it. We hope for a "Happily Ever After", at the end of every story, even though this does not reflect life. You DID create your characters as they SHOULD be, were they real. Very nice, note-worthy. Just not how women REALLY treat men, outside of our "created", fantasy, world.
