Every fan of ABC’s hit reality television show The Bachelor remembers contestant Melissa Rycroft and the infamous Season Finale of the 13th installment of The Bachelor where Jason Mesnick proposes to Melissa Rycroft and then has a change of heart during the “After the Final Rose†where he dumps Melissa and chooses runner up, Molly Malaney. Since the conclusion of the 13th season of The Bachelor, Jason and Melissa have since gone their separate ways, with Melissa Rycroft marrying love, Tye Strickland, and Jason Mesnick marrying Molly Malaney.

Now, Melissa Rycroft is pregnant with her and Tye’s first child! The excitement of the new baby may be overwhelming for the couple, who in the past 2 years have experienced the drama of The Bachelor, realized their love after the conclusion of the reality tv show and soon became engaged and married in December 2009. Melissa Rycroft is currently co-hosting ABC’s newest series Bachelor Pad while Tye works as a Dallas Insurance Agent. Although The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad may not accurately depict real life and romance, the romance between Tye and Melissa seems to be very real and the upcoming months of her pregnancy will prove to be exciting and hold new experiences in Melissa’s life. According to Melissa Rycroft on TV Watch, the Bachelor Pad is “a complete mix of love and romance and hookups and breakups and fighting and challenges and elimination, all competing for money at the end and it’s really good.†Let’s hope the ABC show’s characteristics don’t flood over into Melissa’s real life because it appears she has finally found love and happiness since her heartfelt breakup with Jason Mesnick on the finale of The Bachelor!
Do you think Melissa Rycroft and Tye Strickland have had enough time together as a couple and are stabilized in their careers as of today? Are the two ready to have their first baby after only 8 months of marriage, or do they still need time to get to know each other as a couple? Other things they may need to consider will be their personal career aspirations and if one parent’s career will suffer temporarily to stay home to raise the child. The couple may decide to find alternative modes of childcare throughout work hours since both Melissa Rycroft and Tye Strickland seem to be fully involved in their careers as of today. What other advice would you give to the young couple as they embark on the new marriage and future parenthood?
