A stampede of brides-to-be rushed into the Washington, DC, Filene’s Basement store this morning. The massive crowd was on hand for the annual wedding gown sale, where gowns were marked down from prices in the thousands of dollars down to between around $250-$700. Women and their friends were lined up well ahead of the 8AM start time in an attempt to get the best deal.
Once the doors opened, the dress-grabbers cleared the shelves like a plague of locusts devouring crops. A video of the chaos can be found below. Just as warning, if crowds give you panic attacks, you may not want to watch.
It is amazing what people will do to save money. Perhaps if we can figure out a way to create a form of sustained exercise that includes running to save money, we can finally solve the obesity problem in the United States. It would be worth a shot.
