What's the secret to a marriage that has already lasted more than 70 years? According to the "OG" (Original Grandparents) it's a "give and take" situation. "I give and she takes" laughs Harry and Barbara Cooper.
According to CNN the couple have taken to the web to give advice to struggling couples who are trying to buck the odds and keep their marriages together. Despite statistics that reveal that more than half of all marriages end in divorce. How have the over 90 grandparents lasted so long? "We are just content individuals. We landed on our feet. We have a fine family."
The Coopers have become an internet sensation since their grandkids set up a Facebook page that now has over 1,900 friends and they've recently expanded their postings by adding videos that explain their philosophy - with a few secret recipes from the kitchen thrown in too.
Known as "Cutie" and "PopPop" the Coopers have taken to dispensing advice to their followers on subjects as diverse as communicating with each other to the latest Lady GaGa video, Allejandro. Says Cutie, "I think it's nothing new, it's nothing charming," Barbara wrote in the music-related post last month. "It's got no message. I'm sorry, I did not enjoy this."
Seems like this couple have their feet on the ground after all. She's not the only one to pan that video.
It's amazing to think these people have been married 72 years! I wonder what the record is?
