Tonight, Monday July 12, 2010 at 8 PM ET on ABC, Bachelorette Ali Fedotowski will meet the families of the guys she has chosen to move forward with during individual hometown dates! The four guys she had given roses to in Lisbon, Portugal included Roberto Martinez, Chris Lambert, Frank Neuschaefer, and Kirk DeWindt. The men bring Ali home to meet their families, which may seem odd to anyone new to the show. She has only been dating the guys a few weeks, but according to Ali Fedotowski and producers at ABC, meeting the families will allow Ali to narrow down her choices. I hope each family put on their best behavior for the camera because “here comes the Bachelorette” and she’s ready to decide if your family and son are good enough for her!
Below are videos that give a sneak peek into this week’s episode and hometown dates. Chris L. takes Ali to Cape Cod, MA; Roberto and Ali visit Tampa, FL; Kirk brings Ali to Green Bay, WI; and finally Ali and Frank go home to Chicago, IL.
The relationship with Ali and Chris in this scene is sweet and down to earth, and seems like what you would expect when meeting a man's family.
When Ali meets Kirk's family, she is creeped out by his father's taxidermy work. Her relationship with Kirk fizzles shortly afterward. In real life, if Ali was only dating Kirk, she would give his family another chance to get to know them, rather than classify them by their occupation and dump their son after a bad time at their home.
Seriously, who wouldn't love a hot guy in a baseball uniform? Roberto appears to be a great guy, but taking a girl to play baseball rather than opening up about the family business of taxidermy is the easier way to score bonus points on the date.
Finally, the date between Ali and Frank in Chicago, IL turns out incredibly awkward. He looks like he is going to cry, and he acts like the guy who has another girl on his mind and feels bad because he is on a romantic date with Ali but cannot stop thinking about this other girl. His face is twisted in severe pain when he talks. He mentions his confusion over whether he and Ali even have something together.
Frank knows he did the show for the wrong reasons: he left his true love (Nicole) at home, and now he is paying the consequences because he is under contract with ABC. Fortunately for Frank, ABC allows him to leave the show once the couples get to Tahiti, but not without using the situation to their advantage to increase ratings by broadcasting Frank telling Ali the truth about his feelings.
Which relationship has the most chance for success? My vote is for Roberto Martinez, but chances are that Ali will pick no one. That is probably the best decision, considering how this season has turned out each week.
