Jennifer Saunders revealed today that she has been fighting the nasty battle of breast cancer for the past eight months. The 52-year-old comedienne, is best known for the British sitcom "Absolutely Fabulous," or better known as "Ab-Fab." The hilarious drug-fiend/alcoholic played one half of the duo that was in fact, absolutely fabulous. She was also part of another comedic-duo in the show "French and Saunders" that just ended last year.
Saunders has brought laughs everywhere, and it saddens me to hear this news. However, the BBC has reported that after finding a lump in her breast last October, she has received and finished her treatment and is now in remission. Hooray!
She had been photographed with very short hair, and more recently wearing a bandanna covering her hair loss as a result of chemotherapy. Although Saunders has not publicly spoken about her illness, her spokesperson also reported that she does not plan to at any point. She deserves all the privacy she needs to get well, and I'm sure the stress of the media can't be good for her.
Cancer is a horrible disease, but I am glad to hear she is fighting the battle. Hopefully, as she starts to get better she will hop back on the working train, because she is just hilarious and I can't wait to see any new projects she may have in store in the future.
