I read an article this morning about why people have such a hard time resisting fatty foods.  I had actually had a discussion about the exact same thing the night before, about how all our food is designed to appeal to us on a very base level, its nearly impossible to resist. Not only because it tastes so good (and I mean sooo good) but from an evolutionary standpoint.
Never before in human history has there been such an abundance of food, so up until the last couple hundred years the human brain was evolving to urge people to eat more fat.  It was necessary for survival.  Those who consumed more fat were the ones who lived.  So while we look at donuts as wonderfully delicious, sugar covered, fat filled evil, our brains are saying “EAT THIS!  IT WILL KEEP YOU ALIVE!â€.  That’s something that’s pretty hard to fight against.  You are battling millions of years evolution when you say no.  And lets face it, a lot of the time you just can’t say no.
My solution?  I never buy sweets, ever, because if they are around the house I know I will eat them, I just don’t have that kind of self restraint.  And when other people offer me sweets and I inevitably cave?  I don’t beat myself up about it too much, its really not my fault, evolution made me do it.Â

I'm ok with fatty stuff. I don't really eat it, prefering pasta, salads, fruit. Except when I fall of the rails everyone in a while and get a chippy, typical Scot i'm afraid. Once you start eating that stuff, you crave it. Since I gave in to the craving's i've put on near enough a stone. Time for a diet me thinks lol
I am a sucker for cookies and ice cream, which are pretty much the worst. And cookie dough ice cream? Basically irresistible. Its like heaven meets nirvana. I can't help myself.
an amazing idea 'make me want carrots.' i have another one 'make me want celery!' Good for you but tastes awfull! Only could eat it with sour cream and chive dip after that, yuck!
meh, can't be helped.... i'm sure as not going to drink tea. Can't stand the stuff lol
