Poor Lindsay Lohan is facing jail and new legal representation. TMZ just reported that her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley is no longer representing the troubled star and Tiffany Feder-Cohen will continue in her place. Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in in-patient rehab for probation violations.
This might confirm reports that Lohan is in dire financial straits as Cohen, who according to TMZ only admitted to the bar in November and would be less expensive than Holley. While she tearfully made excuses why she didn't complete her court mandated alcohol education classes in time and why she was at the Cannes Film Festival instead of in court to address her probation violations, she also gave the impression that she still doesn't get it by flashing profanity on her fingernails.
There is speculation that the sentence that Lindsay received does not fit the crime and he ex-lawyer agrees. Holley says that the sentence is "far harsher than what others would have received under similar circumstances.†She also addressed the fingernail scandal stating " “The fact is, the words could barely be seen by the naked eye," and wonders why a photographer would zoom in that closely.
I agree with Holley, this is taking scrutiny to another level. Lindsay doesn't need jail, she needs help and a different set of parents. She isn't hurting anyone but herself and jail is non-productive. I believe she is a victim of 'negative star treatment' meaning the judge is frustrated with her and is making an example of her. I am in no way excusing Lindsay's behavior or diminishing the judges concerns but what she needs is a reality check and the will to change. We can't want her to pull it together more than she does.
