I have never watched a full episode of the Bachelor or the Bachelorette, but I have seen enough clips, advertisements and commentaries from other shows about the ABC series. I have a hard time with the whole premise of the show where one person tries to find their long term love interest from a pool of 20 some men or women depending on the show. I have a problem with the concept that in a short period of time one person is able to take time to get to know the other person without the competition, gossiping, back biting, manipulation and purposed sexual behavior to arouse a sexual reaction that may be construed as real love.
Anyone who is past the age of 15 can understand that you can be sexually attracted to a person and have nothing in common with this person and do not really even like but will have sex with them. They will feel that they are in love and willing to spend the rest of their lives with someone they know very little about.
Why are we as a society allowing this to continue on our television screens? What are we telling future generations? Do we have any limits to what we will allow on the television screen?
