Today MSN Health & Fitness compiled a list of the top ten "normal" foods that can make you sick. In addition, to warning consumers about the potential dangers of these foods, the article also provides suggestions about how to eat these foods safely.
Not surprisingly, the article reported that the biggest risk of illnesses like food poisioning, comes from eating undercooked foods. So think twice the next time you ask for a rare burger or go out to your neighborhood sushi bar.
Undercooked foods can spread bacteria that can be harmful to the human body. This was the other major point that the article emphasized.
But some of the foods listed in the article that were mentioned because of their bacterial risks were surprising. Some of these "healthy foods included fruits and vegetables like cantaloupe and alfalfa sprouts. So just because you're eating fruits and vegetables, it doesn't necessarily mean that you're not at risk for foodborne illnesses.
The article even cautions against dairy products like eggs and cheeses and condiments like mayonnaise.
With all the tasty food options that are available during the summer months, I hope that everyone takes the time to read this article.
