Everyone saw Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart attempt a big smooch at the MTV Movie Awards this previous Sunday night. We all knew they were going to win Best Kiss partly because they always do and partly because they have such amazing chemistry. In the moment when they accepted their award they attempted to feign an awkward kiss on stage, bumping into each other, hitting noses, the whole deal. But I would propose that this "awkwardness" covers the real chemistry in their relationship. If if they're so intent on constantly covering their relationship do they have a healthy one to start with?
It could definitely be argued that it's NEVER possible to have a healthy relationship in the public eye. With a bright spotlight on you 24/7, celebrities have difficulty maintaining the privacy that normal couples enjoy. I would suppose that's the reason that celebs date other celebs - they both have a spotlight and understand what it means. So if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have chosen to keep their relationship out of the spotlight is that really so bad?
I would argue no. We've seen what the spotlight can do to celebrity couples. Look at Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman; Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston and most recently Sandra Bullock and Jesse James. I think it's actually smarter to keep your relationship out of the headlines (well, confirmation of it that is). Let everyone keep suspecting you're dating but always really questioning if their suspicions are right. Enjoy your relationship in the privacy you're able to find (even if those times are slim and hard to find). I'm sure that R-Patz and K-Stew value their private time together and don't want to damage it by subjecting it formally to the public eye.
Every couple knows what's best for their own relationship and I think we should trust that Robert and Kristen are no different. They've made a decision to stay private and I believe that's the healthiest decision they could've made.
