Who is Marla Gurecki-Haskins? Did she have sex with her students??

Marla Gurecki-Haskins is a New York State high school teacher who, apparently, had sex with one of her 17-year-old male students, CBSNews.com reports.

The Canandaigua Academy teacher, 37, turned herself in on Monday. She has taught at the high school for 15 years and police have been investigating her based on these allegations since early April.

Officials claim that the teacher performed oral sex on a male student in a classroom during school hours, police say. She also sent text messages and e-mails to two 16-year-old male students which, authorities say, "encouraged a sexual relationship."

She has plead not guilty, CBS says, " to a felony count of disseminating indecent material to a minor and three misdemeanor counts of official misconduct and
endangering the welfare of a child."

Cases like this can be sticky because a 17-year-old is almost of consenting age. But the bottom line is that a teacher and her student should not be having a sexual relationship while the student is in school. Parents send their kids to school expecting them to be taught, protected and cared for.

It really irked me that Marla Gurecki-Haskins' mug shot photo shows her looking almost happy. She has an unsettling smirk on her face that gives the impression she thinks this whole thing is nonsense.

You can't have sex with your students, lady. Go find someone your own age to prey upon.
