It's a fast food lover's dream come true: Eat tasty tacos all day long and watch as inches shed from your waist quicker than you can say "Yo Quiero Taco Bell!"

The south of the border food chain has been really thinking out of the bun lately with their recent release of their Drive-Thru Diet campaign. But consumer beware, before putting away another crunchy Taco Bell taco make sure you read the fine print. Some of it may be hard to swallow.
Similar to Subway's foot-long loving Jared, Taco Bell also has it's own customer anecdote. Christine, a fast food enthusiast who struggled with her weight, lost 54 pounds in two years. By cutting out fast food altogether and opting to enjoy home cooked meals?? Of course not! She began choosing items on Taco Bell's Fresco menu as oppose to the regular menu items. These Fresco items are considerably better for you in comparison to a regular item like the nachos or a chalupa.
The Fresco Menu offers seven food options to choose from: Fresco Burrito Supreme Chicken, Fresco Grilled Steak Soft Taco, Fresco Soft Taco, Fresco Burrito Supreme Steak, Fresco Crunchy Taco, Fresco Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco, and Fresco Bean Burrito. Each item is under  350 calories and 8 grams of fat or less. But don't expect to taste any cheese or sour cream. There is nothing Fresco about those two, only more calories.
Here's the catch. It's true that lowering your calorie intake does help with losing weight, but if you're not going to exercise then you're wasting your time. Sorry, but living off the Fresco Menu while you lay around and watch Seinfeld reruns won't get you bikini ready this summer.
The ad itself emphasizes this on their website:
"DRIVE-THRU-DIET® IS NOT A WEIGHT-LOSS PROGRAM. FOR A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE, PAY ATTENTION TO TOTAL CALORIE AND FAT INTAKE AND REGULAR EXERCISE. TACO BELL'S FRESCO MENU CAN HELP WITH CALORIE REDUCTIONS OF 20 TO 100 PER ITEM COMPARED TO CORRESPONDING PRODUCTS ON OUR REGULAR MENU. NOT A LOW CALORIE FOOD."
So there you have it. Though Fresco tacos may be better than regular tacos, they're still fast food and last time I checked fast food is still bad for you!
